Der Harmoniumbauer Teofil Kotykiewicz aus Wien


Der Wiener Harmoniumbauer Teofil Kotykiewicz ist weltweit dafür bekannt, Instrumente von außerordentlicher Qualität gebaut zu haben. Ich selber spiele ein großes 2 manualiges Instrument von Kotykiewicz aus dem Jahre 1909. Es befindet sich in einem hervorragenden Originalzustand. Solche Instrumente sind sehr selten zu finden!

Seine erhaltenen Instrumente sind auf der ganzen Welt verstreut. Diese Harmonien aufzuspüren und zu dokumentieren ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil dieses Projektes!
In der Facebook Gruppe "Harmonium Lovers" tauchen immer wieder Fragen zu diesen Instrumenten auf: Herstellungsjahr, Verbleib von Instrumenten, technische Fragen zur Instandsetzung usw. Mein Projekt ist ein lebendiges Projekt, um Erfahrungen und Wissen zu teilen. Die Website ist der erste Schritt. Weitere Projekte, von denen ich in Zukunft genauer berichte, werden folgen.

Für mich ist das Harmonium das perfekte Instrument, mit dem ich mich musikalisch, vor allem improvisatorisch ausdrücken kann. Meine musikalischen Wurzeln liegen in der Orgel- und Klaviermusik. Aber erst nach dem ich den Bajan, das chromatische Knopfgriffakkordeon und das Bandoneon für mich entdeckt hatte, kam ich zum Harmonium. Das Druckwindharmonium ist mit seiner Tonerzeugung und der Tongestaltung des Bajans, Akkordeons und des Bandoneons wesentlich näher, als der Orgel. Die Klangfarben und die Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten dieser Harmonien, faszinieren mich sehr.

Zu der Stadt Wien habe ich eine besonders tiefe Beziehung. Dort habe ich studiert und viele Jahre als Musiker gelebt.
Für die Realisierung dieses Projektes sind meine Kontakte in Wien sehr hilfreich. Vor allem der Kontakt zum Team des "Technischen Museum Wien", wo sich der Nachlass von Kotykiewicz befindet.

Meine Musik
Durch Hingabe, Neugier und Improvisation entsteht meine Musik. Diese ist im ständigen
Wandel begriffen. Asiatische, orientalische und keltische Musik interessieren mich ebenso
wie Johnny Cash, Johann Sebastian Bach und klassische zeitgenössische Musik.
Meine Neugier ist aber nicht nur auf die verschiedenen Musikstile begrenzt sondern
zeigt sich auch im Interesse an unterschiedlichen Instrumenten.
Nach meiner (klassischen) Ausbildung auf den Instrumenten Orgel und Klavier, entdeckte
ich folgende Instrumente für mich:

den Bayan, das Knopfakkordeon, das Bandonion, den Kontrabass, die Guqin und das Druckwindharmonium.

Musik ist für mich immer spirituell! Sie ist es vor allem dann, wenn sie neue, individuelle
lebendige Formen erschafft, die den Hörer in eine andere Welt versetzen können.
Ich praktiziere ZEN Meditation und Qi Gong.

The harmonium maker Teofil Kotykiewicz from Vienna

The Viennese harmonium maker Teofil Kotykiewicz is known worldwide for having built instruments of exceptional quality. I myself play a large 2 manual instrument made by Kotykiewicz in 1909, which is in excellent original condition. These instruments are very rare to find!
His preserved instruments are scattered all over the world. To find and document these instruments is an essential part of this project!
Among the "Harmonium Lovers" many questions about these instruments keep coming up: Year of manufacture, where abouts of instruments, technical questions about repairs etc. My project is a living project to share experiences and knowledge. The website is the first step. More projects, of which I will report in more detail in the future, will follow.

For me, the Harmonium (reed organ) is the perfect instrument with which I can express myself musically, but above all improvisatively. My musical roots lie in organ and piano music. But it was only after I discovered the bayan, the chromatic button accordion and the bandoneon, that I came to the harmonium. The "air pressure Harmonium" (Druckwindharmonium) with its tone generation and the sound of the bayan, the accordion and the bandoneon is much closer than the organ. The tone colours and the possibilities of expression of these harmonies fascinate me very much.

I have a particularly deep relationship with the city of Vienna. There I studied and lived as a musician for many years. My contacts there are very helpful for the realization of this project.

My music
My music is created through dedication, curiosity and improvisation. This is in the constant
Understanding change. Asian, oriental and celtic music also interest me
like Johnny Cash, Johann Sebastian Bach and classical contemporary music.
But my curiosity is not only limited to the different music styles but
is also reflected in the interest in different instruments.
After my (classical) education on the instruments organ and piano, discovered
the following instruments for me:

Music is always spiritual for me! It is, above all, when it brings new, individual
creates living forms that can transport the listener into another world.
